Gear Head

Guitar stand.

Guitar stand with guitar ...

When it comes to music, I'm not much of a gear head; until I bought that micro-amp, I had the guitar, in its case, with a tuner and a Neck-up strap, a music stand, and a drummer's throne I sometimes used, and that was pretty much it.

When I wasn't playing it, the guitar stayed buttoned up in the case; I didn't have a stand because I didn't trust my galloping dogs not to run into it and knock it over.

Since I've started doing jam sessions, I sometimes find myself lacking a place to set the guitar if I have to go to the loo. Balancing it on a chair is not the best idea, and setting it on the floor is definitely a bad idea. Long ago and far away, I put my guitar on the floor at a gathering, and somebody promptly stepped on it, snapped the headstock like a greenstick fracture.

So I broke down and bought a portable stand, a sturdy one. It folds up, though not enough to fit into a gig bag. Not that I would use a gig bag anyway. I want a hardshell case on my guitar when it leaves the house.
